James Niles Design is primarily about photo imaging, in a career that spans more than forty years.

This diverse journey contains oil paintings, PolaroidTM transfers and black and white whimsy that transects the history of photography.

This site will always be in flux, changing with mood, new work, and the fresh discovery of the old things in the picture archives. We may already have your image; please inquire.  All current photography was done with a digital camera.

                              Ruth, Oil on Canvas, 20 X 24, 1992.

I began my photo journey at the age of four, bundled up, I took one of my father's RoleiflexesTM out into a Colorado blizzard.  Very busy exposing pictures, without the necessary accoutrement of film, I fell into a deep window well.  Rescued, my wounds covered with plasters, I was given my own camera, with real film, and I have been a nuisance with a camera ever since.

Please enjoy yourselves. Remember that the photographs and art are copyrighted. The commercial and private use of images is for hire and purchase. Assignments are always entertained.
